MIRACLES MANOR

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM FOR WOMEN

WHO: Miracles Manor is comprised of caring people dedicated to assisting women in their plight to become productive, independent, successful citizens. We will provide mentoring by other returning citizens (success stories themselves) as well as individuals from society who have never served penal time, but who have had to overcome personal barriers that held them “prisoner”. Mentors will help the women re-build their lives, live successfully in society, and reduce the recidivism rate.

WHAT: Miracles Manor is a 12-18 month program targeting returning citizens 90-120 days short of their release, females with non-violent charges who will not be on parole supervision.

Miracles Manor’s program will offer such services as:

  • Mentoring
  • Anger Management
  • Counseling
  • Substance/Alcohol abuse programs
  • GED tutoring (getting a GED will be mandatory if participant does not have one).
  • Higher education (if she desired)
  • Workshops, webinars and seminars relating to
      • Budgeting
      • Parenting
      • Banking-with an emphasis on savings accounts
      • Healthy buying and food consumption
      • Job preparedness i.e. how to dress for certain job and job interviews, completing an online or hard copy job application, and job honesty and integrity
  • Assistance with affordable health care (Obama Care)
  • Assistance with getting her social security card, driver’s license, SSI, food stamps, etc. (where applicable).

WHEN: Early Spring, 2016, is the projected month to open our home for the women who have been selected for the               program.

WHERE: Our initial location will be here in the Baton Rouge at 800 South 16th Street, 70802.

WHY: We understand the challenges and struggles women face re-entering society. Miracles Manor will offer support, encouragement, understanding, and a safe haven where women can concentrate on getting themselves ready and stable enough to deal with the frustrations of life without resorting to criminal acts. Miracles Manor’s concept is renewing the minds of the returning citizen by education them about themselves, their environment, and their abilities and potentials thereby reducing the recidivism rate.

Our Motto: “Hands on for a hand up.”  Sherral Kahey
